Guided Meditation for IVF: Rest and Release
IVF asks so much of you. The early alarms, the injections, the blood draws. The appointments that stack up until the whole week becomes a series of waiting rooms. The emotional math of holding hope and fear at the same time, every single day, without anywhere to put it.
Nobody tells you how much endurance the in-between moments require. The moments between the scans. Between the calls. Between what you know and what you're waiting to find out.
This meditation was made for those moments.
It's a 10-minute guided practice designed specifically for the IVF journey — not to fix anything, not to promise anything, but to give you a place to set the weight down. To breathe. To let your body be held instead of asked. To remember that right now, in this moment, you don't have to do anything except be here.
The practice moves through a gentle body scan — releasing the tension that collects in your legs, your belly, your jaw and shoulders — before guiding you into a quiet visualization and three simple affirmations that have a way of landing somewhere real:
I trust the process that is unfolding for me. I am brave, and I am allowed to rest. I am whole, exactly as I am in this moment.
You don't need meditation experience. You don't need to be calm before you press play. Just find somewhere comfortable, let your eyes close, and follow the voice.

Find a comfortable position... somewhere you feel safe and supported... Allow your body to settle into wherever you are... letting the surface beneath you hold your full weight. There is nothing you need to do right now. Nothing you need to fix... nothing you need to figure out. This time is just for you.
If it feels right, allow your eyes to close... or soften your gaze toward the ground. And begin to notice the breath that is already happening... the gentle rise of your chest or belly on the inhale... and the soft fall as you exhale. You don't need to change anything about it. Just witness this rhythm that has been with you all along... faithful... steady... keeping you here.
Now let's take three slow, intentional breaths together. Breathe in through your nose for a count of four... one... two... three... four... And release gently through your mouth for a count of four... one... two... three... four... Again... breathe in... one... two... three... four... And let it go... one... two... three... four... One more... in... one... two... three... four... And out... one... two... three... four...
Good.
Now I want to acknowledge something. The path that has brought you here... to IVF... has asked so much of you already. It has asked for your patience when patience felt impossible. It has asked for your courage through blood draws and injections... through early morning appointments and difficult conversations. It has asked you to hold hope and fear in the same breath... sometimes in the same heartbeat.
And you have done all of this. You are doing all of this. Not because it is easy... but because something inside you is brave enough to keep showing up.
Right now, in this moment, I want you to let all of that effort rest. You can set it down, just for these next few minutes. The appointments will be there. The plans will be there. But right now... you are simply a woman, breathing.
Let's bring some gentle attention to your body. Beginning with your feet... notice them resting wherever they are. You might feel the texture of your socks... or the cool floor beneath your soles. Allow any tightness there to soften.
Move your awareness upward... to your legs. These legs that carry you to every appointment... that carry you home again. Silently thank them for their strength... and let them be heavy and still.
Now bring your attention to your belly. This part of you that holds so much — so much hope, so much tenderness, so much of your deepest longing. Place a hand there if it feels right. And instead of asking anything of this space... instead of willing it or worrying about it... simply offer it warmth. The warmth of your hand. The warmth of your attention. The warmth of your kindness.
You might notice thoughts arriving... thoughts about timelines, or outcomes, or what the next scan might show. That is perfectly natural. Your mind is trying to protect you. But for now, you can let those thoughts float past like clouds moving across a wide sky. They can be there... and you can be here. Both are true.
Now move your awareness to your chest... your heart space. Notice the gentle beating there. This heart has felt so many things on this journey. Joy and grief, sometimes separated by only hours. Frustration at a body that seems to have its own timeline. Gratitude for the people and the science walking beside you.
All of those feelings belong here. Every single one. You do not need to perform positivity. You do not need to be brave every moment of every day. You are allowed to be tired. You are allowed to be scared. And you are allowed to still hope.
Finally, bring your attention to your shoulders, your neck, and your jaw. These are the places where we often carry the weight of trying. Gently draw your shoulders up toward your ears on the breath in... and on the breath out, let them drop completely. Let them be soft and heavy. Unclench your jaw... let your tongue rest against the roof of your mouth. Smooth the space between your eyebrows.
You are safe here. Right here.
Now I'd like to guide you into a gentle visualization. Imagine a place that is entirely yours. It might be a quiet room bathed in soft morning light... or a garden with warm earth beneath your feet. Perhaps it is a shoreline at dusk, with the sound of slow waves returning to the sand.
Whatever place has come to you... settle into it. Notice what is beneath your feet. Feel the temperature of the air on your skin. Hear any sounds, near or distant... birdsong, water, wind through leaves.
This place exists for you alone. In this place, there is no waiting room. There are no numbers to track, no results to interpret. There is only this feeling of being held. Held by the ground beneath you. Held by the warmth around you. Held by something quiet and deep that has always been with you.
And in this still, safe place, I want you to know something. Your body is not broken. Your body has brought you to this moment, right here, and it is doing its best. The science is doing its best too. And between your body's wisdom and the care surrounding you... you are not alone in this. You have never been alone in this.
Now, with three gentle breaths, let us prepare your heart for some words of truth.
Breathe in through your nose... and out through your mouth. In... and out. One more... in... and out.
With the full strength of your attention, repeat after me...
I trust the process that is unfolding for me.
Feel those words settle through your chest... through your belly... through every cell that is working on your behalf right now.
Now more softly, let this truth land in your body...
I am brave, and I am allowed to rest.
Notice where you feel those words. Perhaps in your shoulders finally letting go... or in the warmth of your own hand on your belly.
And finally, just feel the truth of this...
I am whole, exactly as I am in this moment.
Now repeat it silently... letting it become a feeling rather than words.
You are whole. Not because of what happens next. Not because of any result or outcome. But because of who you are, right now, in this breath.
Begin to gently bring your awareness back to the room around you. Notice the sounds nearby. Feel the surface beneath your body. Wiggle your fingers... and your toes.
Take one more deep breath in... and as you exhale, know that the stillness you found here does not leave when you open your eyes. It lives in you. It is yours to return to whenever you need it.
When you are ready... gently open your eyes.
And carry this softness with you... into the rest of your day.
